Now it is a big oppertunity for CE to take the lead in software based navigation.
Is this a feature that will be added in a near future??

I'm afraid Rose Point cannot comment on unannounced products.
We have, however, stated that we will add support for any radar that we can and that makes sense.
By the way, the article linked above does not indicate that Navico would allow a marine electronics manufacturer (such as Rose Point) to use the BR24 in a competing product. In fact the SDK is intended for custom military and surveillance products.
In addition to that, Navico charges a per-radar license fee of $1249 on top of the $1995 cost of the radar itself. This brings the actual price of radar inline with what Rose Point charges for a 4KW dome system.
Panbo has much more information about the Navico SDK and license fees.
