Hi Visibility Cursor

Can we add an option to change the cursor in CE to a bright color. Red for daylight and Lime Green for Dusk/Night? The small white cursor gets lost in the chart window to easily. Cursor changes in Windows do not modify the CE Chart window cursor. Thanks!

I would also like to have this option. Thanks, HNick

Some months ago there was a similar thread (either here or on the Beta forum). Several folks then also wanted a more visable cursor. Wish we could loose that tiny magnifying glass. Too hard to find. Something bigger and brighter would be appreciated.

Pretty please Brad???

Will this one do? I have used it for years on my laptop.

Wish we had an upload area for this forum!

Coastal Explorer uses a lot of different cursors in order to provide hints at what clicking will do. As such it is not as simple as just tossing in a bug red arrow cursor. However, we are listening and this is something that is on our to do list.

In the mean time, Windows does have a few options to help make cursors more visible and they might help. Check your Windows control panel for mouse options (different versions of Windows and different mice have different options).

W7 Home Premium has cursor options that work in CE, but only for the arrow, not for the finger pointing hand.

The cursor that bugs me (in the past and the current Beta) is the teeny tiny magnifying glass. Can't ever find that bugger.

Also the Vista control panel mouse options allow one to check a box that says show cursor location when the Ctrl key is pressed. This produces a series of circles around the present cursor location.

Hi Visibility Cursor

Brad, Took your advice and looked at some of the Windows Mouse Control Panel options. In Windows 7 found the "Windows Black, Large" setting to do a nice job. That still does not solve the poor contrast of the CE 2009/2010 beta internal cursor for the chart window, in both the Planning and Cruising modes. The current scheme, white with the thin black border and the dotted box which is transparent is easily lost and difficult to locate in that window. Following the Windows Black option it might be simpler not to add "red bugs", or complex options, but just take the current cursor and improve its contrast by proselyting the Window black approach.

Poor mouse visability

I found that makeing a tail on the pointer makes it easy to find, also I park the pointer in the same place after use.

Large cursor

In a previous version of CE I installed a large red cursor on my laptop and that worked fine. However the current version of CE uses its own small white cursor. As I move the cursor off of the nav panel it changes from small white to large red. I vote for having a selection ofd cursors available. And while we are making changes can we get the track line to have a way to make it bolder. The current line is too fine to see in bright daylight.

cursor issue

I'm a new user to CE but the cursor is very difficult to find in the chart. I agree with some of the other comments. CE should allow a user to change the size and color in a similar fashion that windows does.

Trackline colour and thickness

Hi Jerry I agree. I remember asking Brad If we could get a selectable width and colour of the trackline about two years ago. This This would enable us to make the line more visible, thicker, and help us to see the tracks on a year by year, colour, basis. How about it, Brad?

Cursor visibility

Using the big red Nobeltec cursor only works on part of the screen. While there are many cursor editors out there, how do we get CE to use ours instead of your?
