CE and NMEA 2000 USB Adapter from Airmar
by Sharabu on 31-Jul-2010

Hi,

I cant get my sensors (GPS etc) to work with CE. It is a network based on only NMEA 2000 and I use U200 USB Gateway to connect our PC.

CE finds the U200 USB Gateway but nothing more. And when I try to config manual I can only choose NMEA 0183 from a drop down menu.

ANy ideas?

As far as we can tell the Airmar NMEA 2000 interface only works with the Airmar weather software. We attempted to contact Airmar about adding support to Coastal Explorer but they didn't even bother to return our messages.

Coastal Explorer 2010 (BETA) does work with both the Maretron USB100 and the Actisense NGT-1. Each of these adapters requires a free add-on which you can get from http://apps.rosepointnav.com after installing Coastal Exporer 2010 BETA.

Has this changed at all? I have a PB200 weather station and the Airmar NMEA 2000 interface. While the Airmar weather software is fine for what it is... I'd really like to get this hooked up to CE. Will the new NMEA 200 gateway from RosePoint do the job? Though I really don't want to spend the bucks, extra [milli?]amps or waste two usb ports if I don't have to. Thanks.

I'm afraid not. Airmar hasn't responded to our requests for information. It seems clear that they only intended their interface to work with their own software.

The Rose Point NMEA 2000 Gateway works great with the PB200 and it should be available in the next couple of weeks.
