We made it to Ketchikan!

And in only five days! Mike Johnson, Mike Mraz and I took turns driving (although Mike Johnson spent the most time at the helm). We arrived wednesday morning.
The trip was beautiful. Pretty much nothing to complain about as far as weather went -- we only got a bit of rain and most of the seas were calm. The crossing of Dixon Entrance was the roughest, with a 1 meter swell from the ocean on our beam, causing a bit of uncomfortable roll, but that only lasted about 1/2 hour.
The two mikes flew out yesterday (thursday) and my family joins me tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing all of them. It's been a week now!

Shadow isn't too sure what to make of the calm strait. Last time she was here it was blowing 30 knots and she was NOT having fun.
Can't Sail!
-
The strait is just too calm. Very unusal for the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The mountain in the background is Mt. Baker.
Hanging at Garden Bay

Mike Johnson, Mike Mraz, and Shadow contemplate the upcoming cruise through Johnstone Strait while sitting at Garden Bay SYC outstation at Pender Harbour, BC. Note the lack of other boats -- there was only one other.
A Bear!

Hanging out on the shore.
Safety Cove

This picture is taken as we're heading out at 6AM after anchoring here peacefully overnight.
Hanging Out

Shadow and Mike in the pilothouse in their favorite places.
Horsefly Cove
-
We spent the night at this beautiful anchorage in northern BC. Mike Johnson was stunned that we didn't have the place to ourselves (we shared it with another boat). Definitely a place I'll visit again.
Plethora of Falls
-
One of many waterfalls we saw in northern BC. They were so plentiful that it got silly to take pictures of them all. Each one was beautiful though.
Picturesque
-
Lighthouses in northern BC are absolutely beautiful. Many of them look like they'd been recently updated with fresh paint and roofs. This one has a cable that allows offloading provisions from a boat.
Weather Buoys
-
These weather buoys were sitting to the side of the channel into Ketchikan. Notice the size of the buoys compared to the two story buildings they are adjacent to.
WET!
-
It's rainy here, and Shadow is not pleased.
In Port
-
We've arrived at Ketchikan, and we're not alone! This is one of four cruise ships that were here when we arrived. They come and go every few days, but when they're in port, the town is BUSY.
